TYPES OF LASER EYE SURGERY
LASIK
The Most Common Laser Eye Surgery Performed in Australia.
LASIK (Laser Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) is where your surgeon uses a femtosecond laser to create a flap on your cornea. Once the flap is lifted, an excimer laser reshapes the corneal tissue underneath. The flap is then repositioned and adheres on its own without stitches after only a few minutes!
SMILE 2.0
The First Minimally Invasive, Flapless Procedure.
SMILE® (also known as LALEX - Laser Assisted Lenticule Extraction) is a minimally invasive and gentle surgical procedure that requires no flap. A refractive lenticule (tissue disc) and small incision no more than 2mm are created inside the intact cornea. The lenticule is then removed via the incision.
With SMILE®, patients can expect shorter treatment times, faster recovery, less side effects and excellent outcomes with high predictability.
