WHAT EXACTLY IS TRANS-PRK LASER EYE SURGERY?
- Trans-PRK or Trans Photorefractive Keratectomy, is a one-step painless laser vision correction procedure utilising only one laser.
- Trans- PRK laser vision correction is completely painless as numbing drops are used to anaesthetise the eye’s surface.
- Trans-PRK utelises only laser technology and is a NO-TOUCH technique. At no stage is the eye touched my a surgical instrument. No flap is created ,there is no suction on the eye, no blade and no incision is made. FIRSTLY, the surface layer cells are painlessly removed by the excimer laser. SECONDLY and continuously, the cornea is then painlessly reshaped by an Excimer laser.
- At Crystal Eye and Laser Centre we have spared no expense by obtaining the World’s most advanced and accurate excimer laser, the Zeiss Mel 90 to deliver exceptionally accurate results reshaping the cornea during laser eye surgery.
- As no flap has been created the bare area on the cornea is covered by a contact lens. The contact lens stay in for approximately 5 days allowing the surface of the eye to painlessly heal.
- Full visual recovery can be expected between 10 - 14 days
