Corneal Grafts

Pterygium

A pterygium (singular) or pterygia (plural) is a fleshy growth which encroaches on the cornea over the coloured part of the eye.

Often caused by prolonged exposure to UV, the condition is quite common in Australia.

The condition is usually harmless but can be quite uncomfortable, irritating, and cosmetically it looks unsightly. The pterygium will often make the surrounding white of the eye look quite red, angry, and inflamed!

Let's face it, no one likes having red eyes!

As we age, it is not uncommon to develop a condition in which the skin above the upper eyelid is sagging and interfering with function of the upper eyelid. This is called dermatochalasis (saggy eyelids)
